Course Name:

Fundamentals of Design

Release Version:

2001

Description:

The Fundamentals of Design course instructs students in the advanced techniques of Pro/ENGINEER for capturing design intelligence. It builds upon the basics covered in Introduction to Pro/ENGINEER. Some previously discussed topics such as Part and Assembly Modeling are expanded in this course. Some other aspects of Mechanical design such as assembly management techniques, creating models via surfacing and style features and working with skeletons are newly introduced. Troubleshooting and managing existing models by tackling references and interdependencies is a driving consideration for this course and not just the creation of new and better models using advanced tools. A highlight of the course is a hands-on project to be completed in class with the guidance of the instructor. This meticulously designed project will hone user skills and impart an understanding of the practical importance of the Top-Down Design Approach to mechanical design. Upon successful completion of this course and the Project, each student will exhibit a demonstrated competence in a comprehensive range of Pro/ENGINEER skills and techniques.
